- RLC was founded to challenge conventional learning methods byallowing students an opportunity to live actively, to learn througha meaningful engagement with others, and to apply the corecurriculum to real-world problems.
- That foundation has been augmented over the decades in somedistinctive ways, most obviously through the creationofDiscovery Days,Term Courses, and theSevenGenerationsinitiative. The approach to learning is challengeby choice, encouraging students to reach further in their academic,physical, and social development. In addition to mastering the corecurriculum, students are asked to consider how they can serve theircommunities, and they are given ample opportunities to do that.Those communities include the First Nations for which the area ishome and who partner in many of the programs offered.
- The outdoor education program takes full advantage of thenatural setting, and includes hiking, snowboarding, outtriping, aswell as watersports such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming andsailing. The outdoors is used as a place of learning, relaxation,and challenge, helping students discover their potential and theirpassions.
- RLC is proud of its proven ability to graduate culturallyresponsive students who embrace diversity and equity, and who areinspired to engage with others with courage and integrity.Graduates leave Rosseau Lake College with a strong sense of self,and the knowledge and skills that will allow them to thrive inpost-secondary studies and beyond.

- Jonathan Alderson - Jonathan is a Sorbonne and Harvard university graduate. Jonathan is an autism treatment specialist, educational consultant , trainer and lecturer. He founded his company, Intensive Multi-Treatment Intervention.
- Katie Tsuyuki - Athlete, consultant, and motivational speaker. Named to Canadian Olympic Snowboard Team in Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018.
- Waubgeshing Rice - Waubgeshig Rice is an Anishinaabe writer and journalist from the Wasauksing First Nation near Parry Sound, Ontario. Waub has published four books and won several awards for his writing.
